MOL appoints chief country representatives in Brazil and Mexico, while Bureau International des Containers names new secretary general.
Japanese ocean carrier Mitsui O.S.K. Line (MOL) has appointed Mitsuhiro Iwata and Toshitake Daigo as chief country representatives of Brazil and Mexico, respectively.
Effective Dec. 1, 2016, Iwata and Daigo will report to Toshiya Konishi, chief executive representative, Americas. They will be responsible for enhancing cross-sectional and inter-regional connections within the MOL Group, as well as developing and offering proposals for comprehensive transport services in response to specific customer needs in national and regional markets.
Douglas Owen has been named secretary general of the Bureau International des Containers (BIC), effective Oct. 1, 2016, following the retirement of Bertrand Geoffray, who will continue to work with the organization on special projects.
A 20-year veteran in the maritime transportation industry, Owen joined the BIC as deputy secretary general in late 2012. Since then, he has been credited with helping to broaden the scope of the 83-year-old organization, which promotes safety, security, sustainability and efficiency in container transportation.
