Executive Moves: Antwerp Port Authority, Virgin Atlantic Cargo and Matson

The Antwerp Port Authority has appointed a new CEO, while Virgin Atlantic Cargo picks VP of sales and Matson appoints a director.

   Jacques Vandermeiren has been appointed chief executive officer of Antwerp Port Authority, effective Jan. 1. He succeeds Eddy Bruyninckx, who has headed the port authority for the past 25 years and will retire Dec. 31. Vandermeiren was formerly CEO of Elia, an electric grid operator in Belgium.

   Virgin Atlantic Cargo has named Steve Buckerfield vice president of sales, based at London’s Gatwick Airport. Before this appointment, Buckerfield was managing director for the United Kingdom and Ireland at Toll Global Forwarding. He also previously held cargo sales positions with Emery Worldwide, American Airlines, Walker Freight Services, and C.H. Robinson.

   Matson has appointed Stanley Kuriyama as a director. Kuriyama is executive chairman of Alexander & Baldwin, He first joined A&B in 1992, and from January 2010 until his retirement in December 2015, served as the company’s president and chief executive officer.
