NYK ENTERS INTER-AMERICAN TRADES
NYK Line has entered the inter-American trades, by adding a service
between Los Angeles, Mexico and the West Coast of South America.
The Los Angeles/West Coast of South America service is an extension of
the "Andex" service of NYK and Chilean carrier Compania Sud Americana de Vapores
between Asia and the West Coast of South America.
In March, CSAV and NYK added a call at Los Angeles to the Andex service,
allowing NYK to offer a container liner service between North and South America for the
first time.
The service, which employs 10 ships of 1,600- to 2,200-TEU capacity,
calls at Manzanillo (Mexico), Buenaventura, Guayaquil, Callao, Iquique, San
Antonio and Antofagasta.
