Major U.S. retailer Target Corp. has hired Arthur Valdez, formerly of Amazon, as executive vice president and chief supply chain and logistics officer, effective March 28.
Major U.S. retailer Target Corp. has hired Arthur Valdez as executive vice president and chief supply chain and logistics officer, effective March 28.
The Minneapolis-based company said Valdez will lead the company’s “supply chain transformation including planning, distribution and transportation.”
“While we’ve made significant progress in improving our operations, Target’s growth hinges on our ability to enhance the fundamental aspects of our business, starting with the supply chain,” said Target’s executive vice president and chief operating officer, John Mulligan, in relation to Valdez’s appointment.
Valdez joins Target after spending 16 years at Amazon where he held management roles in global and domestic supply chain. Most recently, he was Amazon’s vice president of operations with a focus on supply chain management, including transportation, fulfillment and logistics.
Prior to Amazon, he held management positions at Walmart and Kmart.
