OmniTRAX launches Central Texas & Colorado River Railway

A managed affiliate of the private railroad and transportation management company this week began operating the former Heart of Texas Railroad, which it purchased in May for an undisclosed sum.

A managed affiliate of OmniTRAX, Inc. this week began operating the Central Texas & Colorado River Railway, the company said in a statement.
Formerly known as the Heart of Texas Railroad, Central Texas & Colorado River Railway runs 68 miles west from Lometa, Texas, where it interchanges with the Berkshire Hathaway-owned BNSF Railway Co., to Brady, Texas.
OmniTRAX purchased the rail line back in May for an undisclosed sum. The company said at the time that potential new customers include an aggregate quarry, a cement factory and frac sand producers.
“The Central Texas & Colorado River Railway is a great opportunity for OmniTRAX with at least three good long-term mineral prospects on the line,” OmniTRAX CEO Kevin Shuba said of the purchase.
OmniTRAX is one of the largest privately held railroad and transportation management companies in North America and an affiliate of The Broe Group.
