Amazon’s Kiva buy gains Quiet validation

Quiet Logistics, an e-commerce fulfillment provider specializing in fashion and apparel brands and e-tailers, has reaffirmed its commitment to the Kiva Systems robotic materials handling platform.
Kiva, a provider of robotic warehousing picking services, was recently purchased by Amazon, which caused some initial concerns over the future of its handling robots and service offerings, and what would happen when existing contracts and warranties ran out.
“We are very pleased with the consistent response from Amazon and Kiva, their commitment to continued support and our ability to source the equipment we need to fuel our continued growth and expansion,” said Quiet Chief Executive Officer Bruce Welty. “The Amazon acquisition is a tremendous validation of our technology-centric strategy.”
Quiet Logistics is one of the few independent sources for robotic fulfillment services, providing both hardware and software around e-commerce orders. The company says Amazon’s commitment to future support ensures both future devices and continued growth for Quiet and others in its niche. – Geoff Whiting
