APL increasing transatlantic rates

APL said it will implement a $500-per-TEU general rate increase on April 1.
“During the course of 2012, APL’s transatlantic service has seen a significant decline in freight rates whilst costs have increased, resulting in an unsustainable financial performance,” the Singapore carrier said.
APL said the increase is applicable on all standard dry boxes from North Europe and Mediterranean ports to the United States, Canada, Latin and Central America. – Chris Dupin
