ATLAS AIR, PILOTS UNION IN PAY DISPUTE
The Air Line Pilots Association has filed a federal lawsuit alleging
that Atlas Air Inc. imposed pay cuts against flight deck crew members after
they had voted to join the union.
Atlas Air denied the union’s claims Monday, Reuters reported.
The union claimed the charter airline imposed pay cuts of more than 20
percent on April 26, the same day workers voted to accept the union’s
representation.
"ALPA’s claim of ‘pay cuts’ is simply not true," Rick Shuyler,
executive
vice president for Atlas Air, was quoted by Reuters. "Atlas has not made
any changes in its pilots’ salaries. He said the only change was the pilots
were no longer able to participate in the airline’s profit-sharing plan.
