Connie Awards to Gabrielson, Schember
The Containerization & Intermodal Institute said it will present its Connie Award to Rick Gabrielson, director of international transportation for Target Corp., and George Schember, vice president of corporate transportation and logistics for Cargill Inc.
The awards will be presented at a dinner in Chicago on April 6 at the Marriott O’Hare. The Chicago-based event is in addition to the annual Connie Awards held in the New York area since 1972 and in Long Beach, Calif., since 2009.
In addition to has position at Target, Gabrielson is president and a founding member of the Waterfront Coalition. He is also president of the Coalition for Responsible Transportation and vice chairman of the Marine Transportation System Advisory Council.
Schember’s was appointed to his present position in 2009. His responsibilities include all rail, truck and intermodal freight for Cargill. He is also in charge of the global container group, and Cargill’s warehouse and terminal group. He is a member of Cargill’s agricultural supply chain platform. He originally joined Cargill in 1984 as a commodity merchant in 1984. In 2005 he was named vice president of its joint venture Horizon Milling, responsible for operations, merchandising, supply chain, and customer service activities and overseeing the Goertzen seed research business. In 2007, he was named to lead Cargill North American transportation.
He is former chairman of the Wheat Quality Council and was a member of the Minneapolis Grain Exchange.
