GRI Roundup: Maersk Line and Hapag-Lloyd

Ocean carriers Maersk Line and Hapag-Lloyd issued general rate increases.

   Ocean carriers Maersk Line and Hapag-Lloyd issued general rate increases.
   Maersk Line will increase rates from:

  • China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, South Korea, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia and Taiwan to Panama, Venezuela, the Dominican Republic, Haiti, Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, Puerto Rico, and Colombia (Santa Marta, Cartagena and Barranquilla) effective Nov. 1. Rates will increase by $700 per TEU, $1,000 per forty-foot container (FEU)and $1,000 per 40-foot high cube dry container.
  • The abovementioned Asian ports to Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Mexico, Chile, Colombia (Buenaventura), Ecuador and Peru effective Nov. 1. Rates will increase by $750 per TEU, $1,500 per FEU and $1,500 per 40-foot high cube dry container. In addition, rates will increase by $1,500 per 40-foot non-operating reefers.
  • The United States to Australia and New Zealand effective Nov. 1. Rates will increase by $100 per TEU and $200 per FEU, 40-foot high cube container and 45-foot high cube dry container.
  • Far East Asia to the United States and Canada effective Nov. 1. Rates will increase by $480 per TEU, $600 per FEU, $700 per 40-foot high cube container and $750 per 45-foot high cube dry container.

   Hapag-Lloyd will increase rates from East Asia (excluding Japan) to all North Europe and Mediterranean destinations for all cargo and container types effective Nov. 4. Rates will increase by $950 per TEU.
