Sea Containers completes $585 million Silja sale
Indebted container leasing and ferries company Sea Containers Ltd., has completed the $585 million sale of its Baltic ferry subsidiary Silja to Estonian ferry operator Tallink.
The consideration for the sale of Silja’s core business is 450 million euros ($563 million) in cash and 5 million ordinary shares in Tallink valued at $22 million.
London-based Sea Containers said it will use the money to repay about $503 million of related bank debt.
