The Danish newspaper Børsen has reported the European short-sea operator Unifeeder has been put up for sale by its owner, the private equity firm Montagu and Maersk Line has been mentioned as a potential buyers.
Unifeeder, based in Aarhus, last August acquired the Dutch short-sea operator Feederlink. Maersk Line has its own intra-Europe and Mediterranean short-sea subsidiary, Seago Line.
“We cannot comment on press speculation such as this but I can confirm that Montagu has not sold all or part of Unifeeder,” said Vince O’Brien, a director of Montagu to American Shipper in an email.
Maersk said its a policy is not to comment on speculation and rumors. – Chris Dupin
