TACA sets tariff rate increases
The Trans-Atlantic Conference Agreement (TACA) of ocean carriers has announced tariff rate increases as part of its 2005 business plan.
On eastbound routes, tariff rates will be subject to increases of $640 per 20-foot container and $800 per 40 or 45-foot container. These rate increases will be implemented over four phases, each of $160 per 20-foot and $200 per 40 or 45-foot container, effective from Jan. 1, April 1, July 1, and Oct. 1.
TACA will also review tariff assessorial charges such as free time and demurrage, where changes adopted will be published in TACA's Tariff FMC 060.
On westbound routes, effective Jan. 1, tariff rates for dry van containers will increase $400 per 20-foot container and $500 per 40 or 45-foot container, while for temperature controlled containers, rates will increase $480 per 20-foot container, and $600 per 40 or 45-foot container.
'Further phases of westbound rate increases can be expected during 2005,' TACA said in a statement.
TACA members are A.P. Moller-Maersk Sealand; Atlantic Container Line, Hapag-Lloyd Container Line, Mediterranean Shipping Co., Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK) Line, Orient Overseas Container Line and P&O Nedlloyd.
