NYK expands Thailand-Vietnam car carrier service

The Japanese ocean carrier has doubled the frequency of its automobile transport service between Thailand and Northern Vietnam to twice a month and shifted from calling Cai Lan to the port of Hai Phong, closer to the capital city of Hanoi.

Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK) Line has expanded its automobile transport service in Northern Vietnam, the company said in a statement.
The Japanese ocean carrier increased the frequency on its car carrier service from once a month to twice monthly, and shifted from calling Cai Lan to the port of Hai Phong to be closer to the country’s capital in Hanoi. The expanded service, which NYK has dubbed the Ruffles Ao Dai RORO Express (REX), commenced with the Oct. 8 arrival of the car carrier Modern Link in Hai Phong.
The REX operates with two NYK-operated roll-on/roll-off vessels on a full port rotation of Laem Chabang, Ho Chi Minh, Hai Phong and Laem Chabang.
NYK said the increased frequency and rotation change was in response to growing demand for finished automobiles in Vietnam.
