Borling named Duluth port’s development director

The Duluth Seaway Port Authority has appointed Jeff Borling to director of industrial/economic development, effective Jan. 1.
Borling has spent most of his career in economic development. He joins the port after nearly seven years with APEX (Area Partnership for Economic Expansion), helping drive regional investment and job growth.
Since 2010, he has served as director of business development for the Itasca Economic Development Corp. (IEDC), based in Grand Rapids, Minn. For eight months this year, he was IEDC’s interim president and chief executive officer.
At the Duluth port, Borling is expected to lead waterfront development initiatives as well as business expansion efforts at Duluth Airpark, another property managed by the port authority. He succeeds Andy McDonough, who retired from the port in October after 22 years of service.
