Caribbean shipowners to raise bunker surcharges

   Member carriers of the Caribbean Shipowners Association will increase bunker fuel surcharges, effective Oct. 1.

   The surcharge on 20-foot containers will increase $36 to $180, 40-foot containers will rise $72 to $344, equipment more than 40 feet will go up $81 to $390, and the charge for vehicles up to 700 cubic feet will increase $21 to $95.

   The surcharge will be applicable for shipments to and from the United States and Anguilla, Antigua, Barbados, Dominica, Grenada, Guadeloupe, Martinique, Montserrat, Saba, St Barths, St Eustatius, St Kitts and Nevis, St Lucia, St Maarten, St Vincent, Trinidad, Haiti, Jamaica, Guyana and Suriname.

   CSA carriers are Bernuth Lines, CMA CGM, Hapag Lloyd, Crowley Liner Services, Interline, Seaboard Marine, SeaFreight Line, and Tropical Shipping.
