Long Beach port to host annual Peak Season forecast
Is the traditional model of a peak shipping gone for good? How will the flat import market, teetering national economy, and upcoming docker labor negotiations affect goods movement through the Southern California ports? Could the ongoing implementation of the Transportation Workers Identification Credential disrupt cargo movement?
These are just some of the topics set to be covered during the Port of Long Beach's annual 'Pulse of the Ports' Peak Season Forecast Conference to be held at 7:30 a.m., March 19 at the Hyatt Regency Long Beach.
Each year the event brings together industry leaders to offer their predictions for the coming peak season. Scheduled speakers include: Paul Bingham, principal of Global Insight; Charles Woo, chief executive officer of Megatoys; Brian Black, senior vice president of Hyundai Merchant Marine; Frank Pisano, vice president of TraPac; Doug Tilden, CEO of Ports Americas Group; Mike Mitre, president of ILWU Local 13; John Kaiser, VP and General Manager for Union Pacific’s Intermodal Marketing; and Vic la Rosa, president of TTSI, a trucking firm.
