WALLENIUS OPENS TERMINAL IN ZEEBRUGGE
Wallenius Lines, the vehicle and roll-on/roll-off transport
operator, has opened a car terminal in Zeebrugge.
The new Belgian terminal will handle European exports and North
American imports.
The facility has an initial area of about 181,000 square meters, equal
to space for 10,000 autos. When fully developed, it will have about 403,000 square meters
and will store 22,000 vehicles or other types of cargo.
The terminal will also operate as a transshipment point for ro/ro
services to the U.K., Scandinavia, the Iberian peninsula, North Africa and the
Mediterranean.
Wallenius is due to merge its shipping operations with those of
Wilhelmsen Lines on July 1.
