WFS increases Scandinavia presence

Worldwide Flight Services (WFS) is set to open a new air cargo handling operation at the Stockholm Arlanda Airport on June 1, the company announced this week.
WFS, one of the world’s largest air cargo handling businesses, has signed a long-term agreement with airport operator Swedavia for a 3,000-square-meter airside warehouse described as fully-equipped for a modern handling service.
The WFS station will be integrated with the company’s existing road feeder network that connects all of its European stations. A dedicated truck service will also be used to offer airlines connectivity to shipments.
The next step for the company is to expand further into Scandinavia, a market it entered in 2006 with a cargo center in Copenhagen. It has since added on an additional handling facility and now says it handles some 70,000 tons of air and land cargo yearly in Denmark for more than 50 airlines.
Martijn de Regt, who has more than 20 years’ experience working with Panalpina and ASP Logistics, will head up the new Stockholm operation.
