Sweden’s Wallenius Lines and Norway’s Wilhelmsen Lines said that they are
on schedule to complete the merger of their vehicle and roll-on/roll-off shipping
operations on July 1.
The future company, to be named Wallenius Wilhelmsen Lines, will be the
world’s biggest operator of vehicle and ro/ro transportation and logistics services.
With a combined revenue of $1.5 billion, Wallenius Wilhelmsen will
carry around 1.5 million cars and 300,000 ro/ro units a year.
Christer Olsson, president of Wallenius, will be chairman of the board.
Ingar Skaug, president of Wilhelmsen, will be chief executive.
The merger is still subject to the approval of the German competition
authority.
