Nicola Caristo, Peter Lantin, Baba Devani and Jan Eskil Hollen have new assignments.
Nicola Caristo has been announced as the new secretary general of the Cool Chain Association (CCA).
Caristo (pictured above left) has worked in a variety of roles during a 22-year career with the Alha Group, an Italian air cargo logistics provider. He currently serves as the pharma and business development manager and auditing and certification manager and is based at Milan Malpensa Airport. He also is one of the 25 members of the International Air Transport Association’s (IATA’s) time and temperature working group, which develops and maintains standards for the transportation of healthcare goods.
Caristo takes over from Edwin Kalischnig, the CEO of Xtreme Technologies, who has served as secretary general of the CCA for the last seven years.
CCA also announced that two new members have joined the organization: Fresh Partners BV and Trip & Co.
Peter Lantin has been appointed to the Prince Rupert Port Authority’s board of directors for a three-year term.
Lantin replaces Bud Smith, whose term expired in June 2018. He continued to serve on the board until the seat was filled.
Lantin was the elected president of the Council of the Haida Nation from 2012 to 2018. He previously served as chair of the Gwaii Trust, a society that owns and manages a perpetual fund for the benefit of all people of Haida Gwaii, and was chief operating officer for TRICORP, an aboriginal capital corporation.
Shaun Stevenson, president and CEO of the Prince Rupert Port Authority, thanked Smith, who served as board chair, for his “dedication to building a better Canada through trade.”
Smith was credited with guiding the board through major initiatives to diversify the Port of Prince Rupert, including the Ridley Island Road Rail Utility Corridor, the development of Westview Wood Pellet Terminal, the Fairview Container Terminal expansion, the development of the Ridley Island Propane Export Terminal and the Fairview-Ridley Connector Corridor.
Baba Devani (pictured above right) has been named managing director of Survitec – Marine, “with the mandate to strengthen the group’s divisional structure with a more customer-oriented service philosophy,” according to the announcement.
He was the managing director of workwear for Berendsen plc prior to his appointment in 2016 as a member of the executive board. He also has held senior strategy and business development positions at Avincis Group, Babcock, UTi Worldwide and British Airways.
“Survitec’s next step is to fully realize itself as a valued safety partner across the sector and I look forward to working with the marine team to help drive these objectives forward,” Devani said.
Devani’s appointment follows the recruitment of Jan Eskil Hollen, who joined the organization in May as managing director of Survitec Scandinavia. He previously was the CEO of Mørenot’s aquaculture division.
