Freight Futures data to watch: Weekly spot contract settlement changes
It was a mixed week for the Trucking Freight Futures markets as the spot National contract (FUT.VNU202006) ended the week 0.4% higher to $1.466 per mile, driven by the South regional contract (FUT.VSU202006), which rose $0.024, or 2.3%, to $1.306. The East regional contract (FUT.VEU202006) dropped 0.2% week-over-week to $1.434 as did the West regional contract (FUT.VWU202006), which slipped a fraction to $1.658.
On the individual lanes, the LAX to DAL contract (FUT.VLD202006) in the South surged $0.058, or 3.6%, to $1.660 and was partially offset by a $0.011 (1.1%) decline in the DAL to LAX contract (FUT.VDL202006) to $0.952. In the East, the CHI to ATL contract (FUT.VCA202006) rose $0.032, or 2.3%, to $1.442, while the ATL to PHL contract (FUT.VAP202006) fell $0.031 (1.6%) and the PHL to CHI contract (FUT.VPC202006) slipped $0.01 (1%), to $1.900 and $0.959, respectively. In the West, a $0.015, or 2%, rise in the SEA to LAX contract (FUT.VSL202006) to $0.785 was wiped out by a $0.019 (0.75%) drop in the LAX to SEA contract (FUT.VLS202006) to $2.531.
