Truck accidents up 71% and why ELDs may not be helping – WTT

On today’s episode of WHAT THE TRUCK?!? Dooner is talking to FreightWaves’ Rachel Premack about a new study that says truck fatalities are up 71% over the past 12 years. Has anything improved recently and are ELDs helping or hurting?

MoLo Solutions co-founder Will Jenkins shares his founder’s story of building a company from zero to selling it for $235 million to ArcBest. We’ll find out what he learned along the way and how it has helped shape his freight philosophy.

FreightWaves’ Justin Martin brings the trucker perspective on trucks as a service, detention pay reform, broker morale, where Yellow’s freight went and charging your kids a trick-or-treat tax.

Plus, the best of Halloween, crashing into bridges, robot dog carriages, disastrous wedding proposals and more.

I’m seeing more aggressive truck drivers than ever, it seems to me that once most drivers feel like they need to drive certain number of miles for the day they can’t handle the stress created by the ELD. I Drive at lower speeds for fuel efficiency and I happen to get the one finger solute on a daily basis by other drivers. Hours of service definitely needs to change so that the ELD becomes a better tool.

80% of the accidents are from men & women under 30 years old and foreigners that have No experience on American roads with American drivers. They pass me every day not abiding by the laws, speed limit or respect of how valuable a CDL is to have.

I heard that pressure burst pipes. Seems like the pressure from HOS is doing more than bursting pipes. Personally, I don’t understand how a government agency gets away with targeting my business without cause? It takes multiple DWIs before a motorist is required to have breathalyzer device in their automobile. I fell like a victim of a bully. All I can do is shut my mouth and pray that it stops.
