Our Advisory Board is made up of highly experienced and respected individuals across financial investment, freight derivative and trading technology industries. Our Advisors are key contributors to our continued growth and evolution.

John Larkin

Mr. Larkin is Managing Director at Stifel, Nicolaus & Co., Inc., Mr. Larkin joined Legg Mason in October 2001 to form and lead the firm’s entry into the transportation markets. He was recognized as an All-Star Analyst by Institutional Investor in 2006 and as a Wall Street Journal All-Star Analyst five times, most recently for his stock picks during the year 2010. In addition, he was rated as number one by Forbes/StarMine in EPS estimate accuracy in the road and rail category in 2008, and as number one stock picker in 2003 by Forbes/StarMine in both the road and rail, and the airfreight and logistics categories. He received additional recognition in 2014 and 2015 by placing second in the 2014 StarMine stock picking survey in the road and rail category, third in the 2014 StarMine stock picking survey in the air freight and logistics category, and second in the 2015 StarMine stock picking survey in the air freight and logistics category. Previously, Mr. Larkin was Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of RailWorks Corporation. Mr. Larkin was also a key member of Alex Brown and Sons’ transportation team, serving as a Managing Director.  Mr. Larkin has held various positions in planning and economic analysis at CSX Transportation, Inc. Mr. Larkin earned his MBA from Harvard University and a bachelor’s degree and a Master of Science in civil engineering from the University of Vermont and the University of Texas, respectively. Mr. Larkin is a CFA charter holder. In addition, he is a member of the boards of advisers for CRST International and Comcar Industries, and is a member of the Baltimore CFA Society.

Thom Albrecht

Albrecht brings significant transportation expertise to FreightWaves’ Board of Advisors and has been involved with transportation research since 1988. Prior to founding Sword & Sea, Albrecht served two separate stints as Managing Director of BB&T Capital Markets, starting in 2000, where he followed the surface transportation section, including intermodal, truckload and less-than-truckload carriers. He moved on to Stephens Inc. as Managing Director in 2005 before returning to BB&T Capital Markets in 2009. Albrecht also worked for ABN AMRO and A.G. Edwards & Sons. He has been involved in over 40 equity deals in his transportation career. Albrecht is frequently quoted in national media, including leading publications the Wall Street Journal, Logistics Management, Transport Topics and the Journal of Commerce. Albrecht is a seven-time Wall Street Journal All-Star, according to the publication’s rankings of analysts. He has been a featured speaking at top industry events, including American Trucking Association conferences, Food Shippers of America, the University of Georgia, Georgia Tech, CSCMP, SMC3, Transplace, Truck Trailer Manufacturers, Truckload Carriers’ Association, and IANA

Glenn Goldberg

Goldberg previously spent 25 years in leadership roles at McGraw-Hill Financial, including eight years as President of the Commodities and Commercial Markets Division, which included market leading data and business information franchises Platts, J.D. Power and McGraw-Hill Construction. Under his leadership, the Division transformed its product portfolio, global position and dramatically improved financial performance. Previously, he served as head of corporate affairs and chief of staff to The McGraw-Hill Companies Chairman and CEO, Terry McGraw.

Eric Frank

Frank is a senior executive and accomplished leader with a proven track record of building foremost information services companies.  Mr. Frank is a trusted advisor to data and analytics companies in the agriculture, financial and commercial real estate sectors.  He has invented, built and sold companies and has served as an operational leader responsible for over 8,000 employees and contractors in multi billion dollar revenue businesses.  Prior to launching his advisory practice, Mr. Frank was most recently the President of Thomson Reuters’ $2.3B Investment & Advisory (I&A) Division.  Selected by the CEO to lead post-merger integration of Thomson Financial and Reuters Research and Asset Management. Shaped a $2.3B division comprised of 4 global operating units (Investment Management & Sell-Side Research, Investment Banking, Wealth Management, and Corporate Services).  Mr. Frank created the ADR.com portal and sold the business to Thomson Financial. As an executive managing director of the Thomson Financial Corporate Services team, Mr. Frank extended the ADR.com technology platform into portals for leading North American stock exchanges, financial institutions and created the leading Investor Relations desktop product. In 2005, Mr. Frank was asked to assume leadership of the Thomson Financial Investment Management Division.  He quickly restored profitability with development of an innovative new desktop offering, regaining the division’s status as company’s largest revenue and margin producer. Since 2012, Mr. Frank has served as operating partner with oversight of a diverse set of B2B information companies including AGDATA, Trepp and EDR.  He also has board positions with a number of financial technology and information companies.

Sandeep Kar

Sandeep Kar is a global thought leader in commercial vehicle industry. He leads corporate strategy at Fleet Complete with a mission of developing the company as a leading global provider of connected vehicle IoT solutions for the widest array of commercial vehicle industry eco-system partners. Sandeep is creating growth opportunities in a flat-world eco-system and implementing growth strategies powering Fleet Complete’s pivotal role as a synergistic partner to all connected vehicle stake holding groups. 

Kar works closely with global OEMs and suppliers in developing strategic partnerships that enables companies to grow faster through effective leveraging of advanced technologies and globalized operating conditions. He brings mission critical corporate strategy analytics and insights to senior leadership of global commercial vehicle market participants, and opens doors to accelerated revenue growth leveraging both technologies and markets.

Kar routinely speaks in many industry events and is regularly quoted by media on issues of strategic importance to commercial vehicle industry. He also serves in advisory boards of innovative companies, helping them find economies of scope and scale.

Chelsea (Chip) White III

White is an experienced logistics leader and one of the top minds in his field. He is the former director of the Trucking Industry Program, a study of the U.S. trucking industry supported by the A.P. Sloan Foundation. He was the Founding Engineering Co-Director of the Tauber Institute for Global Operations while on the faculty at the University of Michigan. White was a member of the Board of Directors for Con-way for 11 years until that company’s sale to XPO in 2015 and is a former member of the World Economic Forum Trade Facilitation Council.

Michael DeJesus

DeJesus is an accomplished leader in the data, analytics and technology industries. He’s currently SVP of Data Products for Forrester Research and leads their analytics business line responsible for productizing information assets. Prior Michael was VP of Advanced Analytics at IHS Markit, a broad provider of global B2B market, industry and technical information. He led the launch of a new firm-wide advanced analytics based growth strategy to capture the fast-growing market that analytics/big data/IoT presents for data and information providers. Before this he was with IHS’ M&A team and played a leading role in developing, executing and integrating 15 strategic acquisitions to drive growth and expand IHS’ data and analytic capabilities.  Michael has also held several other B2B commercial operations and product management roles within the data and research space.

Mark Walker

Mark is an experienced veteran in the transportation industry with a 36 year career at CH Robinson. Most recently, Mark was on the CH Robinson Executive team as SVP of Transportation and held previous roles as CIO and President of T-Chek Systems.
