Don Tapscott confirmed as Transparency18 keynote

A still from Don Tapscott’s blockchain TED talk.

Canadian business executive, author, and consultant Don Tapscott (@dtapscott) has been confirmed as a keynote speaker at Freightwaves’ Transparency18 conference in Atlanta, Georgia, next May. Transparency18 will bring thought leaders, transportation industry participants, technology start-ups, and private equity together at the cutting edge of freight-tech. Highlights of the conference include a Hackathon, innovative product demos, and exciting breakout conversations around finance, technology, and commercial applications.

Last year, Tapscott’s book The Blockchain Revolution: How the Technology Behind Bitcoin is Changing Money, Business, and the World (Penguin) garnered accolades from the Financial Times and Forbes, but he’s been on the forefront of business technology thought leadership for decades. Tapscott was thinking through office digitization and automation in the 1980s; he wrote about the vast potential of e-commerce in the 1990s; and he’s been writing about digital privacy and transparency in the corporate world since the early 2000s. Watch his TED talk on blockchain in business below:

Tapscott is the CEO of the Tapscott Group and an adjunct professor of management at the Joseph L. Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto. He’s the recipient of three honorary degrees from Trent University, the University of Alberta, and McMaster University. With his son Alex, Don Tapscott founded the Blockchain Research Institute, a ‘knowledge network’ that brings together a deep roster of expert research directors and faculty members who publish white papers on blockchain strategy across multiple sectors.

In the spirit of the holidays, BiTA is offering members whose payments are received on or before December 22, 2017, $1,500 off registration for Transparency18. Don’t fall behind, the future of freight is here and it’s guaranteed to disrupt the industry.
