A.P. MOLLER LINES UPGRADE MED/SOUTH AFRICA PENDULUM
The Iberia/West Africa/South Africa “Lisa” pendulum service operated by Maersk Sealand and CMB Transport, both owned by A.P. Moller, is being upgraded from four ships fortnightly to seven ships weekly.
The new weekly frequency and improved transit time will enable CMBT’s immediate parent, Safmarine Container Lines, to use Lisa’s call at Algeciras to relay its Mediterranean cargo for West and Southern Africa.
At the same time ships of the South Africa Europe Container Service, jointly operated by Maersk Sealand, Safmarine and P&O Nedlloyd, will no longer call at Algeciras in order to relay this Safmarine cargo.
Lisa’s round voyage time will improve from 56 days to 49 days by dropping calls southbound at Abidjan and northbound at Cotonou and San Pedro.
Pointe Noire remains fortnightly in both directions.
Port Elizabeth is an added call weekly, and Luderitz is a new call fortnightly.
The following calls remain, but are now weekly: Leixoes, Vigo, Lisbon, Algeciras, Dakar, Luanda, Durban, Cape Town, Walvis Bay, Luanda, Abidjan, Algeciras, and Leixoes.
