The cargo segment of the American Airlines began using the Boeing 787-800 Dreamliner for international routes this month.
American Airlines Cargo announced the launch of its new B787-800 aircraft on several routes this month.
Routes between Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport and Beijing Capital International Airport commenced June 2 and routes between DFW International Airport and Ministro Pistarini International Airport in Buenos Aires commenced June 4. Routes between DFW International Airport and Shanghai Pudong International Airport will commence June 26 and routes between O’Hare International Airport and Narita International Airport will commence Aug. 18.
The B787-800 will replace the 767 aircraft. Benefits of the B787-800 include 28 positions for cargo, improved aerodynamics, advanced engine technology, fewer maintenance requirements in comparison to other aircraft, and increases in fuel mileage.
“The modern aircraft contains loftier aft and bulk doors for loading larger shipments, as well as the capability to carry up to 1,000 pounds of dry ice, a critical component in the shipment of high-value pharmaceutical and perishable goods,” American Airlines Cargo said in a statement.
