Airfreight volumes in October 2017 increased 5.3 percent year-over-year, according to data from the Airports Council International (ACI), the trade association for airports across the world.
“Airfreight numbers will likely exceed 7 percent global growth by the end of 2017, almost double 2016’s 4 percent,” ACI said.
Year-over-year, the Middle East and Asia-Pacific regions saw growth rates of 1.3 percent and 2.6 percent, respectively, during the month, while all other regions saw over 5 percent growth.
Trailing behind Africa, Europe achieved the second highest growth rate of 7.6 percent, with North America close behind at 7.4 percent.
On a year-to-date basis, all regions reached growth rates of more than 7 percent except Latin America-Caribbean, which posted 4.3 percent growth.
“Strong global recovery in industrial production and trade continues to fuel key airfreight markets,” said ACI in conclusion.
