Association representing the kitchen cabinet industry says it’s one of the “largest trade cases” filed against China.
The American Kitchen Cabinet Alliance (AKCA) on Wednesday initiated antidumping and countervailing duty cases against imports of kitchen cabinets from China, the alliance announced.
U.S. imports of kitchen cabinets from China have increased by more than 75 percent since 2015, AKCA said, claiming the imports threaten the United States’ $9.5 billion industry.
“The United States has lost much of its furniture and textile industries, and China is now targeting American kitchen cabinets in the same way,” Mark Trexler, CEO of Master Woodcraft Cabinetry and COO of AC Products (ACPI) Inc., said in a statement. “China’s illegal trade practices like dumping and subsidies are hurting American workers and consumers, and today’s historic filing by the AKCA is the first step in standing up to China.”
AKCA said it is one of the “largest trade cases ever filed against China” and that 250,000 Americans work in the U.S. industry.
