Lufthansa will operate the aircraft for AeroLogic and has outsourced uniform distribution for its workers to DHL Supply Chain.
AeroLogic on Friday began freighter service between Seattle-Tacoma International Airport and Frankfurt, Germany, with a Boeing 777.
AeroLogic is a joint venture between Lufthansa and DHL Express.
Air cargo between the Puget Sound region and Western Europe includes components for automotive, aerospace and hi-tech manufacturing; medical instruments and consumer goods.
In related news, Lufthansa has awarded DHL Supply Chain a contract to handle the purchase, warehousing and distribution of uniforms for Lufthansa workers around the world.
DHL will process about 53,000 orders per year at its warehouse outside Berlin, which also has its own tailoring shop to ensure the uniforms properly fit each employee.
The contract covers the handling of some 125,000 different items for 30,000 employees, including pilots, flight attendants and ground personnel. In addition to storage, DHL will be responsible for the buying and procurement of the clothing, processing the orders placed by Lufthansa employees as well as the packaging, delivery and returns handling.
