AIR CANADA, CANADIAN AIRLINES ADD ROUTES, DESTINATIONS

Air Canada, Canadian Airlines and their regional carriers will offer 30 new routes and 11 new destinations in its integrated network schedule

The new network, which starts in April, will streamline schedules and expand services. By realigning aircraft types and departure times, Air Canada and Canadian will be able to offer new non-stop domestic routes such as Montreal/Edmonton, Halifax/Vancouver and Toronto/Victoria along with an improved spread of daily departures featuring hourly service for Toronto/Calgary and Toronto/Vancouver.

The new schedule will also offer hourly service between Toronto and New York La Guardia and Chicago. New transborder routes include Edmonton/Los Angeles; Montreal/Denver; Montreal/Philadelphia; Toronto/Austin, Tex.; Toronto/Ontario, Calif.; and Vancouver/Washington (Dulles).

New additional routes include daily service between Toronto and Hong Kong (via Vancouver westbound and non-stop eastbound), Toronto/Honolulu/Sydney, Toronto/Munich; and Vancouver/Mexico City. Some international routes markets will see the addition of frequencies to provide daily serve on routes such as Toronto/Copenhagen, Milan/Tokyo and Vancouver/Seoul.

Air Canada is talking with relevant authorities about serving the Vancouver/Shanghai market.

Air Canada plans to retire eight DC 10s (only four of which are in use) and replace them with four newer, fuel-efficient B767-300 widebodies. Air Canada will proceed with its plan to operate four new A330-300 widebodies in addition to retaining two A340-300 aircraft that were scheduled to be returned to the lessor.

Some routes flown by Air Canada or its regional carriers will be flown by Canadian or Canadian Regional Airlines, and vice versa. All communities served by Air Canada, Air Ontario, Air BC, Air Nova, Canadian Airlines or Canadian Regional Airlines will continue to be served.
