Air Canada has selected CHEP Aerospace Solutions to supply and manage its fleet of cargo equipment, known in the airline industry as unit load devices (ULDs).
CHEP will acquire Air Canada’s existing fleet of more than 8,000 containers and pallets and integrate them into its shared ULD fleet over time, taking CHEP’s total ULD pool to more than 53,000 units.
By outsourcing its ULD management, Air Canada will eliminate the “administrative hassle and reduce the costs of positioning, maintaining and managing its own ULD fleet,” CHEP said in a statement.
