The cargo division of Air China announced it will be the first and only Chinese cargo line to launch a direct cargo service between Shanghai and Alberta, Canada’s capital, Edmonton.
Air China Cargo will launch a Shanghai-Edmonton-Dallas freighter service Sept. 3 that will be offered every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
Edmonton, also referred to as “The Oil Capital of Canada,” will be the cargo line’s first scheduled freighter destination in Canada.
In addition, Air China Cargo said it will be the first and only Chinese cargo airline to launch a direct cargo service between Shanghai and Edmonton. The new service will allow cargo from Central Canada to reach the rest of the airfreight carrier’s global network through its Shanghai hub, cutting transit times.
The service will use Air China Cargo’s new Boeing 777F that it received last week. The cargo line’s fleet is composed of seven Boeing 777Fs, three Boeing 747-400Fs and four Boeing 757-200SFs. Its last Boeing 777F will be delivered within this year.
Air China Cargo currently serves 172 destinations globally, 26 of which are served by dedicated freighters. In addition, the cargo division offers 1,285 truck services to supplement its freighter and passenger belly network.
