Allen Group opens Dallas logistics hub
It’s a long way from the waterfront, but Deputy Maritime Administrator Julie Nelson will be one of the speakers Friday when The Allen Group holds a grand opening ceremony for the Dallas Logistics Hub it is building in Lancaster, Texas.
The 6,000-acre facility is the largest new logistics park under development in North America, the company said, with plans for 60 million square feet for distribution, manufacturing, office and retail uses. It said the Union Pacific Railroad operates a 360,000-lift-per-year intermodal terminal adjacent to the park, and BNSF Railway Co. is evaluating a potential site on the western side of the project.
The facility aims to be a premier trade hub in the U.S. Southwest and gateway for the distribution of goods to the major population centers throughout the central and eastern United States.
