Alliance Airport begins runway extension

Industrial real estate developer Hillwood Properties started a multi-year project to extend two runways and taxiway at the north end of the Fort Worth Alliance Airport in northeast Texas.

Industrial real estate developer Hillwood Properties has launched a multi-year project to extend two runways and a taxiway to 11,000 feet at the north end of the Fort Worth Alliance Airport in northeast Texas.
“The expansion will allow greater flight capability and enable long-haul flights to take off fully fueled under almost any weather conditions increasing air cargo capacity out of Alliance Airport and boosting business in Fort Worth and the region,” the company said.
The runway extension program received funding from the Federal Aviation Administration, Texas Department of Transportation and other local sources. Alliance Airport also received $21.1 million from the FAA’s Airport Improvement Program in fiscal year 2014/2015 and expects to finalize funding in the coming fiscal year.
Construction of the runway and taxiway extension is expected to be finished by early 2018.
