The e-commerce giant said the planned 1.1 million-square-foot fulfillment center in San Bernardino, Calif. is expected to generate over 1,000 full-time positions.
Amazon.com plans to open its seventh California fulfillment center, which will be located in San Bernardino, the company said.
The 1.1 million-square-foot facility is being developed by Hillwood Investments.
Amazon’s employees at the new center will be responsible for picking, packing and shipping smaller customer items, such as books, electronics and toys.
Over 1,000 full-time positions are expected to be created at the new facility.
Amazon currently employs over 12,000 full-time hourly associates at its six existing locations in California, with the first location in the state opening in San Bernardino in 2012, followed by the additional locations in Tracy, Petterson, Moreno Valley, Redlands and Rialto.
