American commences daily Philly-San Juan service

In addition to two daily narrowbody flights already in operation, American Airlines has launched a new daily, nonstop widebody service between San Juan Luis Muñoz Marín Airport (SJU) and Philadelphia International Airport (PHL).

American Airlines has launched a new daily, nonstop service between San Juan Luis Muñoz Marín Airport (SJU) in Puerto Rico and Philadelphia International Airport (PHL), the company said in a statement.
The new route, which is in addition to two existing daily narrowbody flights, will utilize Airbus A330-200 widebody aircraft. It connects San Juan, where 12 of the 20 largest pharmaceutical manufacturers worldwide have facilities, with AA Cargo’s dedicated 25,000-square-foot pharmaceutical facility at PHL.
From PHL, cargo customers can connect with American’s network for continued shipping to other locations in North America, as well as Europe and Asia.
“Demand from customers for even greater access between these two important pharma hubs is significant and growing,” Roger Samways, vice president of sales at American Airlines Cargo, said of the new flights. “A daily widebody service is the perfect way to meet shipper and forwarder needs, and shows the collaborative way in which we can provide on-going support to the industry.”
