AMERICAN PORT SERVICES OPENS NEW CROSS-DOCK FACILITY IN SAVANNAH

   American Port Services, a Savannah, Ga.-based third-party logistics provider, has begun a new cross-dock operation in a facility adjacent to the Port of Savannah’s Garden City Containerport Terminal, close to Interstates 16 and 95.

   “The cross-dock operation allows for cargo to be removed from a container and transferred directly to an over-the-road trailer waiting across the dock,” said Joseph Powers, vice president, American Port Services.

   'Containers may be tracked using radio frequency technology. The facility also has uniformed security guards patrolling it 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

   American Port Services operates more than three million square feet of warehousing space on the South Atlantic Coast.
