AMERICAN TOOL NAMES EXEL AS EUROPEAN LOGISTICS PARTNER
American Tool Cos. A/S, a maker of hand tools, cutting tools and power accessories, has contracted with Exel, a U.K.-based logistics provider, to manage the company’s European logistics operations.
“We expect to gain economies of scale by combining multiple outsourced activities with a single logistics provider,” said Eva Jorgensen, director of logistics at American Tool Cos. A/S. “The new set-up with Exel has cut down substantially the lead time in order processing.'
As part of the agreement, Exel provides inbound sea freight, warehousing, storage and distribution for products going to American Tool’s customers in 17 European countries, working from Exel’s shared-user warehouse in Mechelen, near Brussels.
American Tool Cos. is a subsidiary of Newell Rubbermaid.
