Antwerp Q1 container volumes up 9.5 percent

Overall first quarter cargo volumes rose 5.9 percent to 51 million tons at the port.

The Port of Antwerp handled 51 million tons of cargo in the first three months of this year, 5.9 percent more than in the same period last year.
Container volumes on the first quarter totaled 2.35 million TEU, an increase of 9.5 percent.
The port said it was “naturally very satisfied with these figures, but nevertheless guards against over-optimism in view of the continuing turbulence and volatility in the market.”
