APL weighs in on overweight boxes
APL issued an advisory to customers last week that the Union Pacific Railroad will begin a testing program at their intermodal terminals.
Intermodal shipments, containers and trailers, will be randomly weighed at UP's terminals to ensure shipper declared weights are consistent with actual unit weights.
“In the event an overweight shipment is detected, the concerned container will need to be retrieved and may incur penalties,” APL cautioned.
