APM Terminals becomes majority shareholder in Brazil stevedore

APM Terminals has assumed operational and management responsibility for Cear' Terminal Operator (CTO), becoming the majority shareholder in the stevedoring and container terminal operating company at the Port of Pec'm, in Northern Brazil.

Brazil-based Unilink Transportes Integrados holds the minority stake in CTO, which was established as a consortium at Pec'm five years ago to exploit the region's refrigerated container export potential.

The offshore Port Terminal of Pec'm provides two 350-meter berths, and a 16-meter draft. It connects to a storage yard of 380,000 square meters containing two warehouses, three refrigerated chambers and 624 reefer plugs. Annual container throughput is projected at 100,000 TEUs.
