APM TERMINALS TAKES DELIVERY OF CRANES IN LOS ANGELES

APM Terminals has taken delivery of seven new gantry cranes that will be part of its new terminal at the Port of Los Angeles' Berth 400 project.

The cranes are part of an order of 10 cranes, purchased at an undisclosed price. Manufactured by Noell cranes in the United Arab Emirates, the seven cranes were transported by two specialized vessels from the port of Abu Dhabi.

The cranes will be able to handle containership with 22 containers wide, and have capacity of 61 long tons under a twin-20 spreader bar, or 91 long tons under the lifting beam.

The remaining three cranes are expected to be delivered in July. The Pier 400 terminal is scheduled to open in August.
