The global container terminal operator has introduced an “Online Import Delivery Process” for its customers in the Port of Mumbai.
APM Terminals Mumbai (APMT Mumbai) has introduced to its customers an “Online Import Delivery Process.”
The Online Import Delivery Process has been implemented to make the import cycle of terminal operations more efficient to reduce gate wait times and congestion, and enable faster container movements into and out of the terminal.
Through the web-based application, container freight stations (CFS) registered with the terminal can access real-time updates on the status of import deliveries. PIN numbers are created for an online submission of the truck trailer number and the driver’s cell phone number, which triggers a SMS text message to the driver’s cell phone consisting of information pertaining to the shipment. In addition, the application is equipped with a feature that allows the CFS to generate a report listing all transaction events against the PINs generated for that time frame.
Situated in western India, APMT Mumbai is a joint venture between APM Terminals (74 percent) and the Container Corp. of India (26 percent). In 2015, the terminal handled 1.91 million TEUs of the 4.48 million TEUs moved through Mumbai and the Jawharlal Nehru Port complex.
