APMT signs contract with Volvo

APM Terminals Inland Services, South Asia entered into an agreement with Volvo Cars to provide the automobile manufacturer with a warehouse facility in Chennai for fully-assembled automobiles imported from Sweden.

   APM Terminals Inland Services, South Asia signed an exclusive agreement with Volvo Cars to provide the automobile manufacturer with a warehouse facility in Chennai, a city along India’s southeast coast.
   The 102,000-square-foot warehouse, which will be for fully-assembled automobiles imported from Sweden, will include bonded and non-bonded areas with an overall capacity of 500 vehicles, APM Terminals said.
   Volvo Cars is headquartered in Gothenburg, Sweden and is a subsidiary of the Chinese-based Zhejiang Geely Holding Group.
   Overall, India has seen car sales double since 2006, with around 2.7 million new cars sold in 2015. The nation is now the world’s fifth largest passenger car market, following China, the United States, Japan and Germany.
