Aqaba signs deal with APM Terminals
Aqaba Development Corp., owner of Aqaba ports, has signed an agreement to have APM Terminals manage, operate and expand the Aqaba Container Terminal for a period of 25 years.
Implementation of the joint venture is the culmination of the initial two-year management service agreement that was signed in 2004 between the ADC and APM Terminals, an affiliate of AP Moller-Maersk.
Aqaba is the principal gateway for Jordanian container trade and also serves transit cargoes between Iraq and other regional markets. The current terminal comprises 540 meters of quay supported by more than 8,800 ground slots.
