ATLAS AIR TO TAKE DELIVERY OF 747-400 FREIGHTER
Atlas Air, the U.S.-based airline that flies freighters for other airlines, takes delivery today of a new Boeing 747-400 freighter, which will immediately be put into service for China Southern Airlines.
China Southern, China's largest airline, will operate the aircraft in its Shenzhen/Chicago route. The 747-400 replaces a 747-200 that has been operating on the route.
Atlas operates the aircraft under ACMI lease contracts, providing aircraft, crew, maintenance and insurance.
Goldon, Colo.-based Atlas, which will take delivery of two other aircraft this year, plans to acquire additional aircraft for later this year.
