Atlas Freight picks IES supply-chain software
Atlas Freight Systems, a provider of transportation services, has contracted with IES Ltd., a provider of logistics-oriented technology, for an integrated suite of applications to manage Atlas's international operations.
The IES software will enable Atlas Freight to provide origin-based bar coding, en-route allocations, cross-dock shipping and online visibility throughout supply chains. Atlas Freight's suite of IES products includes accounting, import-export, customs house brokerage, statistics, workflow management, AES filing, events and exceptions management, inventory-based warehouse management, direct purchase order and web tracking applications.
Atlas Freight Systems moves time-critical cargo ranging from high-tech manufacturing components to oilfield equipment, globally. 'The systems we are replacing required us to use a separate product for customs clearance. At the end of the month, when we tried to transfer entries to the related accounting package, it was always a nightmare requiring three or four people wasting hours making adjustments. IES's accounting package will save us days in terms of operations and accounting work. We should save 20 percent to 30 percent in time by eliminating re-keying data in imports,' said Jim Middleton, president of Atlas Freight Systems.
IES is based in Midland Park, N.J. Atlas Freight Systems has its headquarters in Houston.
