ATLAS POSTS RECORD SECOND QUARTER
Atlas Air Inc. reported net income of $13.3 million, up 31 percent over
the same period in 1998.
It marked the sixth consecutive quarter that Atlas posted record profit
before extraordinary and one-time items. Revenue for the second quarter was
up 58 percent to $138.6 million.
"We were particularly pleased with these results in light of the fact
that two of our B747-200F aircraft were out of service for most of the
quarter while they were being re-engined," said Stephen C. Nevin, vice
president-finance and chief financial officer.
For the first half, net income was $23.5 million, compared to $15.4
million for the year-earlier period. Revenue was $276.4 million, up 65
percent over the first half of 1998.
