Actisense was named the Best Import/Export Company at the Business Excellence Awards (pictured above) in Telford, England.
U.K.-based Actisense, a manufacturer of specialist marine electronic products, said it saw 32 percent growth in 2018, largely due to trade with more than 70 distributors in 45 countries.

Global logistics and transportation provider Bahri won the Ship Operator of the Year award at the 10th ShipTek Awards in Dubai.
The awards were presented during ShipTek 2019, an international conference on the marine offshore sector.
“With its unrelenting focus on championing technology, embracing best industry practices and improving quality standards to enhance its offerings, the company has earned a reputation for its commitment to excellence,” said Bahri CEO Abdullah Aldubaikhi.
Bahri also won the Best Recruitment and Talent Management Strategy Award at the inaugural CIPD Middle East People Awards in Dubai.
“Bahri has been actively pursuing its ambitious business strategy to grow and diversify its business and expand its local and global market footprint. With people being central to the realization of these objectives, we have sharpened our focus on investing in our human capital,” said Hisham Alkhaldi, Bahri chief support officer.
The World Food Logistics Organization (WFLO), a core partner of the Global Cold Chain Alliance, announced that Michael Fischer, general manager of RLS Logistics, was the recipient of the 2019 Don Schlimme Future Leader Award.
Fischer was presented the award at this week’s 128th IARW-WFLO Convention, where 400 temperature-controlled logistics executives gathered to share experiences and best practices, build relationships and meet with industry suppliers.
Given by WFLO, the Don Schlimme Future Leader Award recognizes talented young professionals in North America, 35 years of age and under, who have the potential to become future leaders and make a positive contribution to the development of the temperature-controlled warehousing and logistics industry.
The award is named in honor of the late Donald V. Schlimme, who was a longtime member of the WFLO Scientific Advisory Committee and a WFLO staff adviser for many of those years. He was an expert in food science and cold storage and was committed to sharing his extensive knowledge.
Landstar System Inc., a worldwide, asset-light provider of integrated transportation management solutions based in Jacksonville, Fla., presented the 2018 Rookie of the Year Award to independent agent J. Marshall Mizell.
The award was presented during Landstar’s annual agent convention in Marco Island, Fla., earlier this month.
Mizell, of MM Transportation LLC in Pearson, Ga., joined the Landstar network after several years on the open road as an independent owner-operator. Mizell decided to turn his experience as a professional truck driver into his strength as an independent Landstar agent in October 2017.
“The customers Marshall hauled for as a professional truck owner-operator became his first customers as an independent Landstar agent,” said Landstar President and CEO Jim Gattoni. “His respect for the road has helped Marshall develop loyal relationships with customers and Landstar business capacity owners.”
NYK has received an award for innovation at the Bond Awards 2019 sponsored by Environmental Finance. NYK was recognized for its innovative use of bond proceeds to invest in eco-friendly technologies.
The U.K.-based Environmental Finance magazine reviews bonds issued in the previous calendar year and selects superior, innovative bonds that have been significant to the development of the market. The winners are decided by an independent panel of judges made up of some of the biggest investors in the green, social and sustainability bond market. This year, 41 organizations were selected, and NYK was one of two Japanese companies recognized.
Old Dominion Freight Line Inc. has been named to Forbes’ 2019 list of America’s Best Employers. Old Dominion was identified as a company that stands out in attracting and retaining top talent.

The Port of New Orleans’ strategic master plan, Port NOLA Forward, earned a silver 2019 National Planning Achievement Award for economic development planning from the American Planning Association (APA).

Award recipients were honored at a luncheon during APA’s National Planning Conference in San Francisco on Monday.
Port NOLA also received the Plan Excellence Award in October from the APA’s Louisiana chapter for its strategic master plan, a vision to deliver significant, sustained economic benefit throughout the port’s three-parish jurisdiction.
